Bansko is the youngest and the best-developed ski resort in Bulgaria. The skiing conditions in Bansko are excellent with plenty of snowfall providing a constant winter snow cover of over 2 metres. Ski Facilities
There are two major ski regions in Bansko - the lower called Chalin Valog (3,610 - 5,250 feet) and the higher Shiligarnika (5,578 - 8,202 feet) - are situated above the town, on the northern slopes of the Pirin Mountains. Slalom and giant slalom runs are available in the Shiligarnika region. The total track length is 47 miles with plans to expand this to 59 miles by 2006. A gondola lift provides convenient access from the town to the ski slopes; a further lift is planned for 2006/07 seasons.
Bansko is a thrilling mountain with state of the art amenities. It is no surprise that the resort of Bansko is applying for the 2014 Winter Olympics.

Bansko is not popular just for it’s skiing alone, its beautiful nature and historical significance draws many non-skiers. The town itself attracts thousands of visitors with its 120 cultural monuments, museums and the famous Bansko School of icon painting.
The region is also renowned for its cuisine and lively après ski. When the new highway is completed in 2006 Sofia Airport will be only two hours away. Bansko is fast becoming a major contender in the ever-expanding winter vacation business.
